My My Takeout Experience, Problem Definition, and First Designs

For my takeout experience I choose to go to Thai-Siam. 

These pictures illustrate my the total experience:

There were several problems with the current packaging design. First, the use of styrofoam and plastic bags are both harmful to our environment, and cannot be recycled. Also, the packaging seemed to be too large for my spring rolls. The restaurant also did not give out any menu, or have any branding on the actual packaging. After reading "New Basics" we came up with several studies using the existing logo for our restaurant. These were my two favorites of the ones I created:

I think that I will be able to expand upon these two patterns in creating my packaging design. So far I have come up with a rectangular box to serve my food in, and this weekend I have begun working on the design for the actual box, as well as a piece of paper with the menu that will wrap around the box and attach together with a sticker featuring a logo for the restaurant.
